Pima County Youth Arts Awards (PCYAA)

The Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona has an open call for applications for the Pima County Youth Arts Awards (PCYAA). The PCYAA is designed to provide financial support for high school seniors within Pima County who demonstrate excellence in dance, music, theater, visual arts, or literary arts. This award is an opportunity to earn a scholarship toward an Associate Degree in the arts at Pima Community College. The awards are made possible through collaboration with the Pima Community College Foundation and the The Arts Foundation, and they range between $1,000 to $2,000.For any questions you or your students might have, please contact our Grants Coordinator, Natalia Gabrielsen, at ngabrielsen@artsfoundtucson.org.

NEW Water and Earth at the Tubac Center of the Arts

The TCA announces two new exhibitions. Arizona Aqueous XXXII seeks work by visual artists utilizing water-based media on paper. For more infomation or to apply, click here.

NEW Actualizing an Archetype: Narratives Conceived to Survive
Questions the way we tell the story of HIV/AIDS and its effects on our contemporaneous understandings of the disease. Inviting visual and performing artists to submit artwork/proposals that encompass a wide-ranging understanding of how the story of HIV/AIDS can be expressed visually, through the employment, manipulation, and deconstruction of elements of symbols, archetypes, narratives, and mythologies.

Official Image Consideration – 37th Annual Governor’s Arts Awards Program, Signage, and Formal Invitations.
Eligibility: Arizona College Students
Deadline: December 22, 2017
Compensation/Award: $100 rights and reproductions fee, 2 tickets of the Governor’s Arts Awards ($500 value).
Looking for a work of art, created in the last two years, to showcase on the cover of the program and formal invitations. Will act as the official image of the 2018 Governor’s Arts Awards. The work should celebrate artistry, culture, and unique characteristics of Arizona as the artist sees them. Submissions must be fit for digital reproduction. Arts Congress 2018 – Vote for Your Tote
Deadline: December 6, 2017
Arizona High School Design Contest. Submit your design to be voted on by the public. The winner will receive a $100 cash prize and their design will be featured on the 2018 Arts Congress tote available to all attendees and state legislators at Art Congress on February 19, 2018. Submit a clean, bold design that embodies the theme, “Art everywhere, every day, for everyone.” For more information and to submit, click here.

Arizona Biennial 2018 at the Tucson Museum of Art
Deadline: March 2, 2018 (5pm)
All Arizona artists over 18 years of age working in any media are welcome to submit their work to be considered. The oldest running state-wide juried exhibition exclusively featuring Arizona artists, Arizona Biennial 2018 will be on view July 7-October 6, 2018. The work juried into the exhibition will be selected by guest curator Rebecca R. Hart, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, Denver Art Museum, entirely from digital images or from video submissions. For more information, click here.

NEW The Outdoor Office at Jacome Plaza
Provides a new and unique way to work, featuring an outdoor office space for people to collaborate and innovate. Every weekday between 9am-5pm, a section of Jacome Plaza transforms into an outdoor office. The first of it’s kind in the Southwest region, this outdoor work space allows area workers to enjoy the free space as an alternative to their traditional office by simply bringing their laptop, colleagues, and coffee to the park. Bistro tables and chairs, free WiFi, games, and more are available for your enjoyment.
