A Note From Grants Coordinator, Natalia Gabrielsen:
Every year, the Arts Foundation is presented with an incredible opportunity to invest in Tucson’s dynamic arts community through our General Operating Support Grant. Unrestricted funding of this nature can be difficult for organizations to secure, and rather than these funds needing to be allocated to a specific project, grant review panelists focused on the missions of applicant organizations during the review process. The missions to which arts organizations across Tucson have devoted themselves are wide-ranging. Some organizations provide essential arts education and professional development services, like the efforts of Casa Libre en la Solana and Lead Guitar. Others coordinate festivals that bring exciting cultural experiences to share within our community, such as the Southwest Folklife Alliance and Jazz in January.

Across their varied disciplines, arts organizations within Tucson have made vital commitments to welcome, enrich, and inspire us. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to help highlight the incredible work being done in our community, emphasizing the transformative value of the arts. Please join me in congratulating this year’s General Operating Support awardees!

-Natalia
