Pas de Deux?

This commission consists of two bronze female figures of dancers, but is intended to be completed by the addition of a third figure (male) in order to allude to a classical Pas de Trois. The two nearly identical, life-sized female nude figures maintain a complex, even ambiguous, standing pose in which the lower body seems intent on stepping forward while the upper body twists back to the right. The realism of the anatomical detail is mitigated by the distancing presentation of the figures on 10-foot-tall artist-designed pedestals of cast-in-place ferro concrete, and by the non-objective nature of the black patina.
