About the Artist
Born in Detroit Michigan, Jacqueline's studied painting and drawing at UCLA where she obtained her undergraduate degree. Graduate school led her to Paris, France, where she studied visual arts, art education and plastic arts, theory and aesthetics at the École Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts and the Sorbonne University. While there she participated in open studio sessions at the Académie de Port-Royal and exhibited, at the Grand Palais and at the Galerie Louis Soulanges. After a successful career teaching art education and higher education administration she return to her initial love, making art. She is now a full time artist living in Tucson, AZ. Jacqueline's accomplishments since becoming a full time artist are many; a Research and Professional Development Grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts, an artist residency at Hypatia-in-the-Woods in Shelton, WA, an artist fellowship-in-residence to the International Women's Center in Santa Fe, NM, participation in many juried group competitions and exhibitions and publications about her artwork. These include the Cliente Magazine of the Arizona Daily Star newspaper, in the Sonoran Arts Network art review, the Tubac Gallery guide and Lovin Life After 50, The Dessert Leaf Magazine and Southwest Art Magazine.- www.jacquelinechanda.com

My open studio will have original oil paintings on display in categories that will include; animals, urban landscapes with street and cafe scenes, portraits and a few landscapes. In addition to the art work on display visitors will have the unique opportunity of seeing a painting in progress on an easel so that people can see my process and they will also have the chance to see a set of images showing the development from start to finish of a work of art. In addition, my palette and tools will be on display next to the easel so I can talk about how I work. There will also be a book of my portfolio available for viewing and some light refreshments. For those who truly want a unique opportunity to see me at work there a live painting demo from 10:30 to 12:30 on each day.
