Marla G Kuhn (Day 2)
About the Artist
I was born with an artist's soul, and I've been drawing and painting ever since—I sold my first painting at the age of 13. However, when choosing a career, I took my parent's advice and did something "practical" (even as I took as many fine art courses as possible). I've been a public school art teacher, an art museum educator and art therapist. For the last 15 years I've had a private mental heath counseling practice in Tucson. During the pandemic, I devoted a room in my home as an art studio and began painting with gusto! In the last 4 years I have continued my journey to develop as an artist, doing workshops and classes with many successful abstract artists. I've entered and shown work in juried art shows and painted as often as other work demands would allow.. This open studio event is an opportunity to formally introduce myself to my community, as a now—nearly—full time artist. So, here's the boring stuff: I have a BA in Psychology from New MexicoState University, an MA in art education from UNM (I'm a native New Mexican) and an MA in counseling from Prescott College. In Tucson since 1997.How to Purchase
Beautiful artwork will be available for purchase from $30–$1500+. You can pay by cash, check, credit/debit card or Zelle. I am also available for commissions.Pricing Range
$501 - $1000About this Event
If you love colorful, expressive abstract paintings, please visit me at my sunlight-filled, airy studio on the East side of Tucson. Blue Horse Studio is located in a residential neighborhood, on three, tree-filled acres. This beautiful setting is an inspiration for my artistic expression, and a lovely place to visit. The studio will be filled—both inside and out—with my latest completed paintings (which are all available for purchase).
While you browse the art, I will be painting. You are welcome to observe, ask questions about my process, or just interact with the artist (me!). I will be working on one of my very large abstract paintings. If you are curious about how an expressive/intuitive artist creates on extra large (5–6 ft and above) canvases, stop by!
