New Color Palettes will be presented at the start of each month and implemented in social media graphics, blog posts, and monthly newsletters, creating sense of excitement and celebration around artist’s work through color and design.

“The central theme of my work explores cultural conflicts and identity politics, as I navigate between the two cultures: American and Vietnamese. The concept of the piece “Thuy & T.” determines the color option for the project itself. I know the figure must box in the darkness, therefore, my color choice must be the counterpart to that. I chose the hues of the Vietnamese flag (red and yellow) for my traditional Vietnamese costume, áo dài, as they are the symbols of bloodshed, struggle, and unity in our Vietnamese history. This color palette decision reinforces the Vietnameseness of my female protagonist, while maintaining engaging visual effects from the viewers. . “

Sé que la figura debe encajonar en la oscuridad, por lo tanto, mi elección de color debe ser la contrapartida a eso. Elegí los tonos de la bandera vietnamita (rojo y amarillo) para el traje tradicional vietnamita, áo dài, ya que son los símbolos del derramamiento de sangre, la lucha y la unidad en nuestra historia vietnamita. Esta decisión sobre la paleta de colores refuerza el carácter vietnamita de mi protagonista, a la vez que mantiene los efectos visuales de los espectadores.”
