Category: Artist/Individual
Discipline: Visual arts

"I loved learning the process of creating a public art installation and involving the community in the design and development. Additionally, I really loved brainstorming with other youth artists who have different ideas and styles and incorporating our ideas into the art piece. It was amazing to see our tiny models come to life as 6 foot tall sculptures made of heavy materials such as recycled street signs and concrete. Hiro has been a great teaching artist and I have learned so many new skills through this project, including grinding down metal, mixing concrete, and stuccoing. I loved every part of this experience, the materials, the subject matter, the people I got to work with, and our finished product. I’m very grateful to have been a part of creating this public art installation."
