About Bo Shimmin

Lauded for his expressivity and wide use of vocal colors, Indigenous (Pueblo of Acoma) lyric tenor Bo Shimmin, resides in Tucson, Arizona and is known for his interpretation of new music and vocal repertoire composed by BIPOC+ composers. In November of 2022, he made his Italian recital debut at the renowned Lyceum Club overlooking the Arno in Florence. Recent operatic roles include Scaramuccio (Ariadne auf Naxos), Telemaco (Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria), Fiscal (Juana), Little Bat (Susannah) and Nate (Highway One, USA). He holds degrees from Arizona State University, the University of Michigan and DePauw University and has been featured as an artist at Barn Opera, Dell’Arte Opera Ensemble, Ad Astra Music Festival and Southern Illinois Music Festival, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival and Opera in the Ozarks. Bo is a two-time Fulbright grantee and is an English and Italian teacher. He is an active recitalist and sought-after teacher in Southern Arizona.
