H. M. Neill Studio of Glass
Category: Artist/Individual
Discipline: Visual arts
For over twenty-five years, Arizona artist Heather Neill has created luminous, collectible works in stained glass that unite meticulous craftsmanship with painterly vision. Her panels, designed in both the lead came and Tiffany copper foil traditions, reveal a deep reverence for the medium’s ancient heritage while embracing contemporary innovation. Drawing inspiration from the Southwest’s radiance and natural forms, Neill incorporates hand-painted and fused glass details, stones, shells, and other organic elements to enrich her compositions with texture and depth. Using the finest hand-rolled glass from renowned makers, she transforms color and light into an expressive language—each bespoke piece a meditation on beauty, craft, and the enduring dialogue between glass and illumination.
Honor valor with glass, color, and light.
This bespoke stained glass panel reimagines the iconic Delta Force emblem—featuring the Fairbairn-Sykes dagger set against a green triangle—with a dramatic, Medieval-inspired design that calls to mind the nobility and sacrifice of warrior legacies throughout history.
Materials and methods used hark to the early centuries of the art, including over 100 hand-painted features and embellishments. Hand-cut, hand-painted, hand-leaded, hand-soldered, and crafted with reverence, this piece was originally commissioned as a personal tribute to a U.S. Army Delta Force operator. The client entrusted me with full creative license—no previews, no revisions—resulting in my own custom design that merges elite modern military symbolism with the timeless gravitas of Gothic architecture and battlefield honor.
This is an original, one-of-a-kind stained glass panel, featuring a whitetail buck at sunset, along the edge of a mountain meadow, framed by a winding stream and magenta rhododendron.
Crafted primarily from Youghiogheny glass, this panel captures the rich, vibrant hues and subtle depth unique to hand-made Appalachian glass. Complemented by jewel-toned accents of sapphire-blue and peridot-green glass by J. Paul Wissmach Glass, the panel’s ivory border echoes the elegance of the buck’s antlers, setting a perfect frame for this exquisitely-colored, serene wildlife scene.
At 13-3/8″ by 18-3/8″, the panel features a tranquil whitetail buck gazing knowingly beneath a drop-dead-gorgeous sunset sky, with rolling hills and a winding stream in the background. This piece draws you into a fading daylight moment where light dapples the meadow and water, a true homage to nature’s rhythm.
Every detail is deliberate: from the hand-painted and kiln-fired border accents, to the dark antiqued copper solder enhancing a timeless, rugged, yet magnificent look. Pre-fitted with a 24″ hanging chain, this panel is ready to bring warmth and wild beauty to your home or cabin.
The Story Behind the Art
I find inspiration for my art in some unusual places, and this big fella is no exception. While waiting in the tire shop one day, flipping through and outdoor magazine, a photo of a whitetail buck with a quietly amused expression caught my eye. I quietly tore out the page and brought it home with me to design the panel
Why Appalachian Glass?
Both Youghiogheny and Wissmach have over a century of history crafting stained glass in Appalachia. Their glass is revered for its unmatched color depth, richness, and subtle texture—qualities that bring this wildlife scene to vibrant life in your space.
