Haji Miranda

About Haji Miranda

Haji Miranda's sculptural imaginings reflect a life spent in exploration of what drives and inspires people, cultures and beliefs... Her imagery captures our imaginations as it tells tales of human souls, in all our bizarre and beautiful magnificence.

A fascination with the textures & colors of nature is evident in her work, as Haji plays with symmetry, asymmetry and balance, blending human and animal forms with flowing abstract and ornate elements. Her work emotes a dreamy, organic spirit, uniting materials in their natural states with sculpted and painted forms.

Haji is an accomplished metalsmith and stone carver, presently delving into painting, paper maché, mosaic, and exploring larger media suitable to outdoor public works. The fine details and material choices within Haji's mixed media works often reflect her jewelry background, yet she combines these techniques and elements into something altogether unique.

Of Asian Indian and multi-European descent herself, Haji has honed her artistic skills in studios from Minneapolis to Santa Fe, Hawai'i to New York, and India to Ecuador. She welcomes visitors to her Tucson home studio 'Stardust Junction' year round by appointment.

About the Process

Radiating the confident triumph of coming into one’s own, 'Serendipity' represents that moment in which life’s experiences crystallize into a liberating cosmic affirmation. She welds strong our seams, coats the grit in nacre, and raises us from the ashes of life's downfalls.
Katty Leena, Sonoran Desert Faery. Leena ritually captures fiery colors from monsoon sunset skies & splatters the gila monsters. As has long been suspected, she's responsible for granting baby javelinas the power to mimic the cries of human infants. And of course when feeling especially mischievous, she famously sprouts antlers on jackrabbits.
