Irene Klar

Irene Klar: born in 1950 in Montreal, Canada. Inspired by the common threads of colors, patterns and textures of cultures around the world, I synthesize these commonalities into my watercolors, acrylics and original printworks. I have been working as a professional artist for more than 45 years. I obtained my fine arts degree in 1977 from the University of Alberta. My work has been exhibited in both group and one person exhibitions in galleries across the US , Canada and Australia. My paintings and prints have been included in group shows in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, US, Spain and Slovenia. Several of my paintings have been featured as book covers and in television shows in Europe and North America. I reside in Tucson, AZ.

About the Process
My paintings are made using either watercolors or acrylics. I also am a printmaker. In the past, I would make serigraph or silkscreen editions but since 1997, I have concentrated on etching. I use either zince, copper or polymer plates onto which my images are etched. The plate is inked using from 1 to 8 colors at one time. Further colors are added with watercolor.
