Julie Rose Originals/Uptown Rodeo Rose

About Julie Rose Originals/Uptown Rodeo Rose

Creating her first pair of earrings at age 6, Julie Rose has been making and selling her handcrafted jewelry, gifts and accessories ever since. After years at a makeshift workbench ,and a few basic courses, Julie studied Fine Arts at the University of Colorado at Boulder (CU), and graduated from SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology/NYC with a Degree in Jewelry Arts. Her education at FIT was instrumental in her pursuit of a career combining her love of jewelry, art and fashion.
Julie has been successfully self-employed as an artist/entrepreneur for more than 30 years. Her many accomplishments include selling her handcrafted collections to stores worldwide, seeing her accessories featured in major fashion magazines and participating in many trunk shows, and personal appearances. She has also enjoyed teaching at the prestigious Parsons School of Design/NYC-Fashion Avenue Campus and volunteering with at risk youth to encourage them to explore and develop their creative spirit. Julie Rose currently resides in Tucson, AZ, which enables her to work outside year round. Her extensive travels allow her to stay aware of ever-changing trends and continue to inspire her work.

About the Process

I make an effort to revel in the wonders of nature in some way ever day. Whether it is noticing the colors of a lizard scurrying away, or seeing a new shade of pink in the evening sky. By allowing myself to take the time to notice, my creative spirit is both refreshed and inspired.
I have been handcrafting jewelry, gifts and accessories professionally for more than 30 years. I have worked in many mediums and have always been the most entranced with wire, metal, beads and stones. Working with a very limited budget in my early years, caused me to look for new ways to reuse, repurpose, and upcycle vintage finds, beads etc, which I still enjoy today. I am always exploring new techniques and ways of finishing metals. I love the patina process of changing the colors and finishes of metals. Every new batch is slightly different and every new outcome inspires new designs.
I want people to smile when they see my work, whether it’s a sun face on a salt shaker, a butterfly on a bookmark or a cactus and coyote dangling from their ears. The message I hope to convey is that the world we live in is full of color and love and natural beauty, and it should be noticed and celebrated often.
