About the Process

After the challenging creative fun of cutting shapes and forms, comes the layout. This staging table is where I finish arranging my ideas and get ready for painting. These shapes were cut from high quality printmaking paper which holds paint moisture very well. The two pieces in the background are of finished work.
Here is the painting area where I use acrylic paints to add color to my cut-out forms. First I seal the backs of each piece with clear acrylic soft gel. When that dries I coat the fronts with acrylic colors that are pre-mixed to get the desired hue.Recent pieces of artwork can be seen in the background.
This is the area where I attach finished layouts to canvas, using acrylic soft gel as a glue. I coat the back of each piece plus the canvas area so the application is wet-on-wet, a meticulous process to insure a smooth and clean adhesion.
