I am an abstract painter. I graduated from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon and have shown my work in Oregon, Washington and Arizona. The natural world continues to be an inspiration in my work, but rather than documenting an actual place, I am more interested in capturing the emotion a place evokes and communicating that emotion through my paintings.- deborahgillis.com

In my work, painting is an additive and reductive process. Working alternatively between representation and abstraction, without a preconceived idea of where the painting is going, I try to maintain a tension and freshness in the work through the painting process. This involves erasure and the deliberate destruction of passages that become too precious. The paintings are about control and loss of control; hopefully arriving at images that effectively straddle the line between chaos and order.Explorar estudios cercanos
