Sobre el arte

Sobre el Proceso

My name is Rachel Marie, I use photography as my medium. My favorite tools capture, bend and shape light - reflectors, bounce cards, diffusion material. I was first introduced to film photography in high school and my voice bloomed in college when I met a group of Drag Kings & Queens who exploded my world in a good way. They were artistic muses turned life long friends, a constant stream of models and ideas and people who wanted to play and explore! My work is about the body and expression. Often playful, sensual energy shows up as empowered, embodied women - celebrating themselves. Water and desert landscapes are themes connecting spirit, energy and intention. Studio must-haves for creativity to flow: comfy couch to throw myself on, dance playlist and mood lighting. Every process is collaborative and identifying what feeling/ energy/mood we want to create. What are we expressing. How do we want to use our bodies to express that idea. I close my eyes and visions flood my mind. Light, shapes and movement. I create visual mood boards to build ideas. And I leave a little wiggle room for spontaneous inspiration during the photoshoot!
