Stephanie Shank is an abstract expressionist painter who exhibits with galleries throughout the U.S.A. Born in St. Louis, MO, 1954, she studied painting at Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri and the University of Missouri in Kansas City where she received her B.F.A. in 1976. She's been painting professionally for over 20 years, with work in private and corporate collections across the U.S.A. A desire to revitalize her artistic vision compelled her to move to the Southwest desert in the mid 80's. The stunningly clear light of the Arizona environs has continued to illuminate and inform the brilliant hues of her abstract expressionistic paintings. Shank's paintings are rarely consciously informed from a direct source such as the landscape, but rather from an inner wellspring of knowing. An intuitive process encapsulates her imagination and resonates at a primal level of enigmatic, emotionally-rooted paintings that relay the universal joy that lies within all soundings of love and life.
