Seeking to hire eight youth artists between the ages of 14 to 18 and one youth assistant age 18-19 to assist and learn from a professional artist in the design and production of public art this summer. The project is expected to begin in early June and continue through to the end of July. Selected youth will be paid at a rate slightly higher than minimum wage. Interested youth must complete the application and upload it through the online application site hosted by Submittable. Applications will be reviewed by a team including the artist, City of Tucson, and Arts Foundation representatives. Interviews may follow a review of application materials.

The project is ideal for acrylic mural paintings, on up to 12 concrete planters. Planter dimensions are 28.5 in. (Height) x 30 in. (Diameter). Tilework or sculptural accents are encouraged. The artwork will be designed with the student workers hired for the project. The theme for the 2021 TABY program is food, mobility, and culture, and in Ward 1 City Council Member Lane Santa Cruz’s words, “this year’s TABY uses visual storytelling to document the rich cultural traditions of South 12th.”
