About the Artist

Jo Andersen spent her formative years living with her family in Columbia and Panama. She has since lived in Los Angeles, Albuquerque, and Tucson. Jo's artmaking includes printmaking, installations, videos, cyanotypes, gum bichromate prints, and Artist's Books. She resides in the Tucson, in the Sonoran Desert. Jo's artwork examines the relationships of nature, the interconnection between plants, animals, their habitats, and humans. Jo received her BFA from the University of Arizona and has taught private painting, book arts and printmaking workshops.

Jo Andersen is a recipient of a purchase award from the University of Arizona's Special Collections Library, a purchase award from the University of Arizona Poetry Center and the Donn Sanford Award for Book with Text. Jo received a Haystack Mountain School of Crafts Fellowship and was the recipient of the Art Matters Individual Artist Fellowship from New York and the Award for Excellence and Innovation from Tucson Pima Arts Council. Jo Andersen's Artist books are included in many special collection libraries including Baylor University and the University of Colorado.
