About the Artist
An award-winning and nationally acclaimed portrait and figurative artist, Russell paints to discover the spirit of the person in front of him. Painting professionally for more than thirty years, his commissions encompass judges, corporate executives, physicians, both university presidents and deans, and philanthropists.Russ studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia and painted portraits and landscapes.
Portraits include presidents of every major hospital as well as physicians, lawyers, corporate executives, judges and philanthropists. including Vaughn Bryson, CEO, Eli Lilly & Co, Jack Wentworth, Dean of the Kelly School of Business, IU-Bloomington, John Rau, former dean of the Kelly School of Business & CEO, Chicago Title and Trust, and many private commissions. Most recently Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, unveiled in December of 2024, and the President of Indiana Landmarks, Marsh Davis, unveiled this past March 2024.
