About the Artist
The power of making art happens in the present. I might capture something from the past, an image or an inspiration but the act of creating is always in the present. Successive layers accrue and the final product is it's own thing. I engage with curiosity as a conduit to life, to self and all that is and pay homage to beauty in the attempt to make meaning of things.My imagery reflects a love of the land but also water in it's many forms. I paint abstractly on canvas and enter trance-like states exploring color and composition and I also paint the energetics of life around and between people, spirit figures.
I was fortunate to be raised in an artistic and journalistic family in NY and AZ and went to Interlochen Arts Academy in MI. I received a BA in Art and an MA in Counseling and work in both fields. I've been represented by galleries in Hawaii, California, Colorado, and Arizona and maintain a studio at the Steinfeld Warehouse and at home. My work is represented in reproduction at Warm Shape at the MSA Annex in Tucson, AZ.
