About the Artist

a Tucsonan for 30+ years, Jeweler and Painter. Many people have known my work as an art jeweler in the past, as Cosmo's Moon design studio. During the last few years I have rediscovered a love of painting and drawing, which I will be showing along with my jewelry during open studio. My jewelry is a refined rustic style, with mixed metals and stone inlays. My paintings are based in realism, with loose brushwork and interpretation of color. My latest series is called " Kicks and Pricks" - paintings of cowboy boots and cactus. I have been an avid equestrian all my life. Unfortunately I suffered a number of bad falls as a kid which damaged my spine. Now a "mature " artist, my energy is often leashed by physical limitations due to chronic pain. Working with limited energy, means my work is based close to home: on local inspirations, memories, commemoration and finding beauty in everyday life. I find meaning in the world through the process of creating; When I am lost in my work I know I'm on the right path.

About this Event

I’m in my new studio! It’s been primarily my painting space, and I’m just settling in (so it’s not cluttered yet!)

I will be showing paintings and will have a couple cases of my one of a kind jewelry from Cosmo’s Moon during the open studio weekend.

I look forward to reconnecting with friends and clients, plus meeting new art lovers and dynamic creatives from the Tucson community.

About the Process

As a painter, I work in Oils or Acrylic Paint, depending upon the ventilation conditions. I start by taking photos and editing them digitally, then I draw from that image, further developing the composition and concept for my painting. Once I'm happy with my drawings, and I've learned the composition, I put it to canvas with dynamic action and interpretive color. As a jeweler- I work primarily with sterling silver, copper and brass. I make the pieces I would love to wear- eclectic, earthy and unique. Comfort is very important in my work- I take care to make each piece wearable as your favorite "go to" pieces of wearable art.
