About the Artist

I have always loved to paint and have been drawing and painting since early childhood. I graduated from Parsons School of Design with honors, painted and taught art for more than 30 years, honing my craft through my own education and teaching others the fundamentals of art. I gained experience spearheading a range of gallery exhibitions during my tenure as exhibition director at Hinsdale Center for the Arts in Hinsdale, IL. My work grew when at my studio in the Cornelia Arts Building in Chicago , IL where I had the opportunity to show and sell my paintings on a regular basis. Currently I paint full time at the East Hive Building in Tucson, AZ, where I have a studio. My work can be seen in galleries and museums as well as private collections nationally. Currently I am represented by DAAG Gallery and Desert Artisans Gallery in Tucson, AZ.

About the Art

About the Process

I work in watercolors, oils and acrylic paints as well as with many drawing materials, (pastel, pencil, marker to name a few) I usually need to search my personal photo file for an interesting picture that I have taken with my 35mm camera or phone. I then plan out an idea generally in pencil on the canvas using numerous photos. Sometimes I make preliminary drawings on paper. Upon completion of the drawing I begin to paint using my photos and drawing as a reference. Sometimes I start a painting by adding a flat color to the canvas before any painting of the image begins, colors like bubblegum pink or bright orange. Then I begin the painting process.
