Pima County, in partnership with the Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance (SAACA), invites artists and artist teams to apply for a public art commission at Historic Canoa Ranch Pollinator Garden in Pima County, Arizona. This project will integrate site-specific artwork into three distinct interpretive areas, each highlighting a different group of native Sonoran Desert pollinators—butterflies, bats and moths, and wind-pollinated species—and their essential relationship with native plant species. The selected artist will create durable, weather-resistant artworks that conceptually or functionally support pollinators while enhancing public engagement and education. This project is part of Pima County’s 1% for Public Art Program, with a total budget of $150,000 covering all costs related to design, fabrication, and installation. The artist will collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure the work aligns with the site’s ecological and historical significance. Applications are due by April 11, 2025, via CaFÉ (callforentry.org). For more details, visit https://www.saaca.org/callstoartist.html or contact Matt Rolland at matt@saaca.org or calling 520-274-2758.
