Marble Waters

I wanted to create a mosaic that offers water to the Rillito River. Other bridge art projects along the river reference water themes (Rain Dance, jumping fish, water birds, animals drinking, etc.), but none have provided a feeling of rambling water, the sparkle and vitality of water, the feel of washed-over pebbles, or the quiet beauty of a calmly flowing river. Even though the Rillito stays dry most of the time, I wanted to create a little piece of the river that is alive and can be enjoyed anytime. My concept was to create a mosaic abstraction of water to fill the concrete dado for the entire Alamo Wash Bridge¦.finally leaving a little water in the wash.
