Pie Allen
The intent was to fulfill the desire of the Pie Allen Neighborhood to beautify the wash crossings and to recognize and celebrate how the neighborhood earned its name. This neighborhood was named after John B. Allen, who earned his nickname "Pie" by selling apple pies to the Calvary and railroad workers in the area. He was a prominent citizen, public servant and ultimately the mayor of Tucson.
