Public Drums
The piece was inspired by the conditions of the park: a dark corner, not enough fun stuff to attract the kids to that part of the park, a perceived need to offer kids something modern and futuristic and to give them the chance to cooperate and perform.

Created by artist Joseph O'Connell, a cylindrical drum shape made out of translucent plastic with metal pads on top makes sound when touched by viewers. Additionally, the drum illuminates upon any changes in pitch.
