About the Artist
Guadalupe de la Torre is an internationally known fine artist who excels in oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, ink and sculpture. Her formal art education was accomplished in both Mexico and The United States. The recipient of numerous awards from many juried shows, and a five-time winner of the prestigious Master Meed's Award from the Santa Cruz Valley Art Association. These silver medallions were earned by receiving the most votes at the Tubac Art Festival in 1985, 1986, 1990, 1999 and 2000. Her paintings grace public and private collections around the world. Her illustrations, for Curriculum Press, are in public school books throughout the country. Her paintings have been selected seven times for the posters of the International Mariachi Conference, held annually in Tucson Arizona. She is a much sought after Art Instructor and has taught at Pima Community College and the Green Valley Recreation Center. She has taught privately for over 60 years. Guadalupe was interviewed by the National Geographic Society in 1992. A National Geographic Special featured her giving art instruction to students in her studio. She has been in demand as a consultant on restorative artwork and has served on committees selecting art for the community.- http://guadalupedelatorreart.com
