Her many accomplishments include selling her handcrafted works to department stores, boutiques and galleries worldwide, seeing her accessories featured in major fashion magazines and participating in many trunk shows and personal appearances. She has also enjoyed teaching at the prestigious Parsons School of Design/NYC-Fashion Avenue Campus and volunteering with at risk youth to encourage them to explore and develop their creative spirit. Julie Rose currently resides in Tucson, AZ, which enables her to work outside year round. About this Tour

Monterey Court is a revamped historic motor court. It houses a bar, restaurant, stage and 12 artisan studio shops. We, as a collective will all be open 12-4 for the three days of the open studio tour with Monterey Court itself and many of the studios being open until 10 pm. Here you can eat and drink and shop and enjoy our lovely courtyard. We will offer drink specials, live music and the chance to see the 12 artisan shops and their owners at work. We will all be showcasing our many talents, including arts and services. At Uptown Rodeo Rose we will be repurposing old and vintage jewelry into new wearable pieces of art. If you haven’t been to Monterey Court this is a great opportunity to stop by and see what we are all about!

About the Art

About the Process

I make an effort to revel in the wonders of nature in some way ever day. Whether it is noticing the colors of a lizard scurrying away, listening to the rain or seeing a new shade of pink in the evening sky. By allowing myself to take the time to notice, my creative spirit is both refreshed and inspired. I have been manufacturing jewelry, gifts and accessories professionally for more than 30 years. I have worked in many mediums and have always been the most entranced with wire, metal, beads and stones. I especially enjoy taking vintage pieces and parts I have collected over the years and turning them into new, fashionable, on trend accessories. I have traveled extensively and the various landscapes of our country impact my work in very different ways. The tranquility of nature and the great southwest plays as important a part as the raw energy of NYC. As an artist, I feel lucky to have been brought up in an environment that both approved of and encouraged my creative pursuits. Unfortunately, many kids today do not have the same advantages and it is important for me to share my love and knowledge of the arts with them. Spending time with at-risk youth to encourage their creative spirit and to see their smiling faces and feel their pride when they have created something all their own, has brought me more satisfaction than the many other accomplishments I've made thus far in my career. The joy I experience when I escape to the studio and emerge hours later with a new idea, new design or a wonderful one-of-a-kind piece is unparalleled. I continue to strive to remain true to myself and my definition of handmade, while still producing enough volume to be considered a strong wholesale resource.
