About the Artist

Brought up in Portland, Oregon, I began my exploration of art as a child creating cartoon imagery, then kept on drawing. As I aged into adulthood and drew inspiration from the bold narrative stylings of German expressionism, WPA artists, and Mexican muralists, I developed my own original style as a surreal oil painter and muralist. My work went on to galleries, projects, publications and exhibits in Portland, Tucson, Los Angeles, New York, London and Toyama, Japan. I have worked as a muralist, scenic artist and illustrator with organizations and companies like Warner Bros, FAO Schwarz, The City of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), Penguin Publishing (New York), and the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, Oregon. Regarding awards, I am the recipient of a United States House of Representatives Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition (for my work with the Los Angeles Metro Poster Series Project), a City of Los Angeles Mayor's Certificate of Commendation (for my mural work in that city), and a Recognition Award from the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, Oregon (for my public art contribution to that community).
