About the Artist
Katie Cooper grew up in Colorado, earned her MFA at the School of Visual Arts in New York and moved to Tucson in 1990. She has shown widely throughout the Southwest and has been awarded funded residencies in Georgia and New Mexico. She's been the recipient of multiple grants by the Arts Foundation of Tucson and Southern Arizona and the Arizona Commission on the Arts, including a Research and Development grant in 2020 to retrace, in a mobile art studio, her earlier solo mule ride across seven states, giving workshops along the way. About The Event
There will be large wall installations; freestanding 7' x 4' mixed-media panels; large and small works on canvas, paper and wood; and works-in-progress. It might all be combined into a full-room installation. The elements (paper paintings) of the panel compositions will be for sale, to be replaced with new elements on the spot, so the panels will keep changing over the course of the weekend. Come watch them being created, and become part of the process!
