About the Artist

Mariana de la Vega is an accomplished artist from Mazatlán, Mexico. With a passion for transforming lives through art, she is particularly drawn to the process of abstract art. Currently, Mariana's focus is on a series of "Inner Self Portraits," a journey of self-discovery and reconnection with her authentic self. Through each canvas, Mariana channels her innermost thoughts and emotions, inviting viewers to join her in exploring the transformative power of art. Abstract art allows Mariana to release her soul and let it speak through the senses. Each canvas is a unique expression of the moment, a free and authentic representation of her inner self. Without a specific plan or structure, Mariana allows the colors, shapes, and textures to flow intuitively, experimenting with different materials, layering techniques, and spontaneous brushstrokes. Mariana has successfully facilitated hundreds of workshops for both adults and youth in Mexico and Arizona as a teaching artist. Since moving to Tucson, Mariana has become a sought-after commissioned artist and is known for her impressive mural work. She is dedicated to integrating the arts into everyday life, believing that it has the power to connect and inspire individuals in profound ways.

About the Art

About the Process

"Through my abstract art, I forge a deep connection between inner emotions and visual expression. Colors, lines, and textures guide me on a transformative journey of self-discovery. Each brushstroke captures the essence of human emotion and universal truths. In the absence of boundaries, abstraction allows me to convey the complexities of the human experience. Layers of paint and mixed media create a visual language open to interpretation, evoking introspection and contemplation. Viewers are invited to reflect and embrace their unique journey of self-exploration. By peeling back societal expectations, we connect with our true selves and find solace in shared human experiences. Within each canvas, I create a sanctuary for reflection, fostering connection, empathy, and understanding. I seek to awaken the senses, stir emotions, and ignite the spark of creativity within each individual. My art is an invitation to embark on a transformative journey, delving into the depths of our souls and embracing the interconnectedness of the human experience. Through abstraction, I evoke introspection, fostering connection and authenticity."
