About the Artist

Doing art is a way for me to be in the world. It begins with an impulse to express and connect to life. The imagery is symbolic and a projection of myself onto the world or vice vera. This practice of making art also enables me to do everything else that life requires. The freer and more trusting I am, the better the work (and life). When too controlled I get lost or constrained but in letting go a direction emerges (eventually) allowing for discovery, with less focus on outcome. I was raised in an artistic and journalistic family in NY and AZ and went to Interlochen Arts Academy (High School) in MI. I received a BA in Art and an MA in Counseling and work in both fields. The mediums I use in art are watercolor, acrylic and oil on canvas. I've been represented by galleries in Hawaii, California, Colorado, and Arizona. Artists I've been influenced by and admire are Robert Wick (my father), Robert Delauney, George Inness, Georgia O'keefe, Odion Redon, Nicholas Roerich, Helen Frankenthaler, JS Turner and Gerhard Richter.

About The Event

I have a salon-type environment in our historic home in Armory Park welcoming people to see the art, discuss creative process, relax with a drink and food, listen to music and enjoy the shady tree-filled patio in a relaxed environment. I'll be demonstrating watercolor painting and have originals, reproductions and merchandise available to purchase, allowing for people to explore freely and interact with the artist.
