About the Artist
Russell Recchion, an award-winning portrait and figurative artist painting professionally for over thirty years, his commissions encompass judges, corporate executives, physicians, both university presidents and deans, and philanthropists. Recchion has paintings in collections in Europe and the United States. The most recent portrait commission is of
Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb to be unveiled in December of 2024.
Awards include "The Best of Show" 2020 Indiana State Museum's Hoosier Salon, "First Place for Portrait" 2021 Hoosier Salon, "Second Place for Portrait " 2022 Hoosier Salon, and "First Place for Portrait" 2023 Hoosier Salon. In addition, Russell won the "Portraiture Award of Excellence" Oil Painters of America 2022 National Exhibition at the Steamboat Art Museum, Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Russ studied at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He now serves on the board of the Oil Painters of America. Russ published his book Collected Works in 2019.
