About this Tour

My studio being open to the public includes access to see original pieces of mine that are for sale, as well as art prints and stickers I have for sale. I will also be actively working on paintings during these days, so visitors can get a look into my work space and my painting process. As my studio is located within the Monterey Court collective, visitors will also be able to visit the other studio spaces within the collective, and, if they stay late enough, enjoy the live music and bar/restaurant located within the Court.

About the Art

About the Process

I work mainly in oil paint on wood panel. I also use other untraditional surfaces to paint on, such as copper sheet. Having grown up working with horses in Arizona, I naturally gravitated towards cowboy art as one of my main inspirations. Both of my parents are PhDs of anthropology, so I also was raised to have an appreciation of scientific and cultural history, as well as an appreciation for anatomical accuracy - both of which play a part in what I decide to create. The majority of my work is some form of portraiture or figure painting/drawing. I moved into my studio space in 2023, and since then it has become my happy place for me to create in. I always set the vibe with some 70s country or rock on the record player, and I love being able to display my book collection, which is where I've gotten a lot of ideas for my pieces. My most recently completed piece, an oil painting titled "Cowboy's Delight", was created for &Gallery's "Saddles & Boots" exhibition. That piece is about masculinity in Western art, vulnerability, and the relationship between the Italian Baroque and the American Southwest.
