About the Artist

The creation of 'art' is, for me, a journey of discovery on many levels. Having been a painter of faces for more than a decade, putting together mixed material pieces now holds greater interest. As an artist with a self-directed education, I have gathered bits and pieces from childhood, homes, travels, dreams, books, and every corner of my living. Techniques have been learned from many talented and generous artists who offer so much guidance through workshops and courses. Given this amalgamation, I do not feel restricted to any method, style or medium. Working with wood, paint, ink, fabric, fibers, paper, wax, found objects and pieces and even drywall plaster and tar, I find great joy in seeing what emerges as each piece that is put in place on a work speaks to what should happen next. It is the process and the listening to the work that is of interest to me, and by allowing this, each piece feels like a compilation that goes beyond my ability to understand, a songline that bridges the past, the present, and the future.

About The Event

My exhibit will include textile creations, contemporary acrylic abstract paintings, oil paintings of American Indians, and mixed media pieces to include collage and light assemblage. Toscana Gallery & Studio showcases the work of many local and extremely talented artists, and is an absolute delight to visit. There will be several artists displaying their work at the Tour in addition to the Gallery. I will have a space set up for visitors to participate in a community collage, adding either papers or acrylic paint to a piece in progress. Toscana is always a popular place for local artists and collectors to congregate, and we look forward to seeing you, meeting you, and chatting about your collections and art as well as our art.
