About the Artist
Where Art Meets LifeFounded in 1992 by artist Andrew Rush and a circle of friends, The Drawing Studio (TDS) has grown into a cornerstone of Tucson's creative community. From its earliest days, the nonprofit has been guided by the belief that art is essential to a thriving life and should be accessible to all.
The Drawing Studio's artistic journey mirrors the values it instills in students and teaching artists: curiosity, exploration, and the power of creativity to build connection. Through classes, workshops, exhibitions, outreach programs, and the annual Juneteenth Art Expo, TDS provides opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to develop their own art practice and discover the joy of making.
Its most enduring accomplishment is the vibrant community it has cultivated— today thousands of students, artists, and volunteers work collectively to sustain a culture of inclusivity, discovery, and lifelong learning. The Drawing Studio itself is an evolving work of art, dynamic, collaborative, and deeply rooted in Tucson.

Join us for Tiny Treasures, the exhibition featuring works 6x6 inches or smaller created by our talented teaching artists, staff, students and community. This multimedia showcase offers affordable art pieces—priced from $1–$150—perfect as unique gifts, along with gift cards, and other TDS swag. As part of our month-long celebration, we will have our unique community altar for DÃa de los Muertos, honoring loved ones & welcoming your contributions. Light refreshments will be served during your tour, & you may even catch a class in session during your tour. Tiny Treasures pairs beautifully with the spirit of giving—art to collect, share, & celebrate.
