My Mother Revelation

An exploration of a young female artist and traveler as historian, documenting two travel narratives bound together through genealogy of mother and daughter. The performance resembles a slide show lecture with the artist’s mother’s photographs projected around the performance space on a variety of surfaces. Images were taken over the span of 30 years, beginning in the early 1960s. They document the Chicago civil rights movement; a march with Dr. King; travels across Afghanistan in a VW bus; Parisian political dissidents; and numerous rallies, protests, and sit-ins.
