Updates to the Collection
We encourage you to stay informed about important updates regarding artworks in the City of Tucson’s Public Art Collection that are currently undergoing maintenance or are under review by the Public Art and Community Design Committee (PACDC) or the PACDC Relocation/Deaccession subcommittee.
1. Bronze sculpture of César Chávez
- Location: Five Points intersection
- Status: The Chavez Deaccession Subcommittee of the Public Art and Community Design Committee (PACDC) has been appointed. Meeting will take place August 19, 2026 at 10:00 am.
- May 13, 2026: A letter requesting artwork deaccession was introduced to the PACDC at the public meeting.

2. Viva César Chávez
- Location: Highway Interstate 10 Overpass at 6th Avenue
- Status: Maintenance and Alteration

3. Si Se Puede Barrio Anita (Oury Center Mural)
- Location: 655 N. Hughes St
- Status: Maintenance was successfully completed on May 25, 2026, by Julian Argote, a longtime Barrio Anita resident with familial ties to the mural’s original creation.

4. Turnkey sculpture
- Location: 943-951 E 35th St, Tucson, AZ, 85713 (South Park Neighborhood)
- Status: The Relocation Deaccession Subcommittee of the Public Art and Community Design Committee (PACDC) is currently organizing meetings. Scheduled dates will be announced on the BCC website. Additional information will be provided soon.
- Motions (PACDC Relocation and Deaccession Subcommittee meeting, April 20, 2026, 1:00-2:30 pm):
- Move the Turnkey sculpture to a secure storage location. Location TBD.
- Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona to continue community outreach and to prepare a written report on the Turnkey sculpture.
