Oasis

Organic shapes recall the surface and flow of water through color and texture in these discrete forms placed along a descending road. The depth of color at the south end blends to lighter shades as the "river" carries more rock to reach the base or bottom.

Created by pouring synthetic flexible materials into molds, artist Dayton Claudio fabricated a variety of colored forms which they then adhered onto a screen wall. The shapes are meant to reference the surface and general flow of water.
