About the Artist

Biography in 200 words or less impossible, but here it goes. Until the age of 7.5 I lived in the attic and on a rooftop in Amsterdam which was at the time the edge of the city. Later in life I lived in Cypress, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and Israel. My imagery, the architecture of my paintings, content and emotion come from these disparate lives I have led. The color in my work comes partly from these places but mostly from 1960's American television. My work has been shown in one man gallery and museum shows in NYC, RI, MD, PA, NC, NJ, and Holland. The work has also been seen in galleries from MA, to NC. Articles and photographs of my work have been in publications from the Villiage Voice all the way to Good Housekeeping. The work has varied depending on my state of mind. It spans from photography to welding to painting. Currently I am concentrating on my paintings. The styles and content of my work varies widely. Very widely. Non of the work is stagnant. The power and meaning of the work will change over time in the viewers mind dependent on their own journeys through life

About the Process

Every work demands honesty. Therefore there is no set process. I come to each piece fresh and open to tap into whatever drives me on a given day. I have lived in the mountains, scaled tall peaks, lived on glaciers, rescued climbers. I have hunted terrorists, lived in very unusual circumstances, been to war. Spoken foreign languages, run a gallery, run a photo lab, printed and worked for NY photographers. Jumped out of perfectly good planes boats and helicopters. Topped tall trees. Taught students a variety of the arts. I could go on and on. This life has given me a depth of understanding, knowledge and experiences that all collide in my mind. Today my process is music entering my ears, mixing with my past, exiting my hand through a paintbrush or pencil etc.
