Barbea Williams — Barbea Williams Performing Company

Barbea Williams, center, with performers.

In this episode of Artistories, Barbea Williams, a Tucson institution in of herself, tells us about Barbea Williams Performing Company and the upcoming Kwanzaa celebration. She describes the public part of the Kwanzaa celebration, the private part, and the special need for both.  Part of this year’s Tucson Kwanzaa will be an event open to the public on December 7; a coming together of drummers, singers, dancers, games, vendors, workshops and the formal Kwanzaa presentation. (Full details at the Facebook page with link above).  In the podcast we have a more in-depth cultural conversation prompted by the question, why is it that sometimes the most challenging people to deal with are also the same people who have Black Lives Matters signs up?
