About Maya Castle
In 1925 the War Department declared African Americans unable to fly because they lacked basic skills/ Bees, according to science can't fly, yet both bees and African Americans fly. The second design is an African American cowboy. In lots of history, African American perspectives and experiences are often erased. Cowboys are often viewed as white or non-black. The design challenges that narrative from a historical perspective.
