Coronado Cougar

Coronado students attending the 1975 Pima County Parks & Recreation Department Summer Program designed the original cougar and made it from paper Mache. During the 1977 school year, students reached agreement with the sculptor on how the permanent version should look. They also monitored progress of the sculpture as it developed. Fourth and sixth graders assisted by selecting the rocks of which the pedestal is made.
