Welcome to the Team, Ariel Fry!

Aug 23, 2023 | Arts Foundation News, News

We are thrilled to announce that Ariel Fry has joined our team as the Public Art Coordinator!

Ariel is a ceramic artist, arts administrator, and gallery director in Tucson, AZ.

She grew up in Ajo, Arizona, a small desert town which instilled a strong sense of place and creativity in her.

Ariel moved to Tucson in 2013 to complete her undergraduate degree, where she received a BA in Anthropology and later an MS in Urban Planning from the University of Arizona. During her time in school, and later working at the Ward 6 office as a Council Aide, Ariel focused on studying equitable community development and ideas on how to make our built environment a more inclusive, engaging and meaningful place to be. In the last two years, she has worked as a ceramicist full-time, teaching ceramics, volunteering, and running her business, Buckley Ceramics. Ariel practices her art at her home studio and at the community studio, Romero House Potters, where she has taught classes and currently volunteers as their administrator and director of the Mudroom Gallery. The gallery will be opening with its debut show, Tiny Wonders, this fall!

Ariel’s community-based work is driven by a desire to support spaces and experiences that bring people together to celebrate art. Ariel is always exploring her connection to place and thinking of ways to improve public spaces to promote sustainability, placemaking, and community building and strongly believes art holds a central role in making that happen. She is so excited to have the opportunity as the Public Art Coordinator to help connect artists to the community and help make public art the forefront of our shared spaces in Tucson and Southern Arizona.
