We are thrilled to announce a new addition to our team at the Arts Foundation: David Gaxiola! David comes to us with a rich background in the arts and a passion for community engagement. He will be taking the lead on implementing the Spring Open Studio Tours (OST), one of our most exciting events that showcases the diverse talent in our artistic community. David Alejandro Gaxiola, is a first generation, Mexican-American, multidisciplinary artist with a focus on film as a Writer/Producer.
Recently earning a master’s degree in screenwriting from Barreira A+D in Valencia, Spain, David brings a wealth of experience from his time at Salma Hayek’s company, Ventanarosa Productions, and his involvement with NALIP (National Association of Latino Independent Producers). His roles included talent curation, extensive screenplay reviews, and fervent advocacy for the inclusion of authentic Latino narratives.
Beyond his experience in Film and TV, David has ventured into creating resin art, intricately infused with authentic crystals. His creations have been presented in Tucson and Southern Arizona, in local markets, gallery showcases, and earning a spot in local stores. Excitingly, David is set to showcase and sell some of his creations at the Tucson Gem Show, this weekend at the Kino Sports Complex, Booth – T7.
David, born in Tucson and raised in Nogales, Sonora, a border town, is deeply passionate about supporting local artists. He is committed to fostering the creative spirit in his community.
