Cicada Song
The inspiration for this piece comes directly from the Sonoran Desert. The washes of Tucson function as a constant source of life and represent an intersection between the natural world and urban life. The song of the cicada heralds the changing seasons of the cycle of life.

Inspired by the surrounding desert, artist Zach Lihatsh depicts a cicada made of steel as a barrier to the nearby wash. Alluding to the change of seasons which are heralded by the song of the cicada, Lihatsh's work highlights the juxtaposition of the urban and the natural which collide in city washes.
