About Lara Ruggles

Based in Tucson, AZ, Songwriter Lara Ruggles performs simmering acoustic and electronic alt-pop anthems as Sharkk Heartt. Her dynamic and versatile vocals have been compared to Florence and the Machine, Sarah McLachlan, and Duffy, with an overall sound landing somewhere between London Grammar and Sylvan Esso. She once opened a show on Grammy-winner LeAnn Rimes' "Today is Christmas" tour, and her music video for "Work Fires" won Best Music Video at Tucson's Apex Film Festival and a Tucson Ideafunding Award. In 2020 she joined Colorado poet laureate Andrea Gibson on their "Right Now, I love You Forever" tour, and in 2023 she spent a month as the National Parks Arts Foundation's artist-in-residence at Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. Ruggles' provides music for TV and film projects, writes custom songs on commission, and teaches songwriting and grant-writing workshops.
