About Maureen Walsh

Maureen Walsh is an international visionary artist specializing in public murals, mixed media installations and textiles made with natural dyes. She's been working professionally since graduating from the SCAD in 2005. From 2007-2015 she co-ran a design studio in Brooklyn, NY creating installations for events and interiors. When she left NYC she traveled the world and studied with many master artists and healers. In 2018, she was the resident artist at an ashram in India. Over the last five years she's created twelve large scale murals and a mixed media installation for the Ohio Percent for the Arts Program. All of her travels and cultural experiences are infused into her work. She's a certified yoga + meditation teacher and a craniosacral therapist and uses these modalities to infuse her work with healing and love. She’s inspired by the magic and intricacy of nature, intuition, sacred geometry, and the ocean. She loves to share the powerful connection of healing + art with the world.

Chromatic Passage

CHROMATIC PASSAGE :: MAY 2019

Chromatic Passage is inspired by the magic and intricacy of nature, the interconnected web of consciousness and the depth and mystery of the ocean and its inhabitants, in particular the octopus.

The majority of an octopus’ neurons reside in their eight arms, which can independently taste and touch and also control basic motions without input from the brain. The octopus lives outside the usual body/brain divide, as it is not clear where the brain itself begins and ends. Octopuses are also one of the few animals in nature that can change color in the blink of an eye. Not only can they change their coloring, but also the texture of their skin to match rocks, corals and other items nearby. This piece is a celebration of the fascinating creature belonging to the deep sea.

Maureen Walsh uses the practices of yoga and meditation to create expansive, large scale works of art. Her work is influenced by worldly travel and culture, sacred geometry and the awe inspiring creations of Mother Nature.
