The outer sphere represents the hardship the artist's community endured during the pandemic: fear, isolation, hopelessness, loss, anger, grief, and confusion. The inner heart shape represents the community of Ajo as a whole, the machine that keeps us moving and produces quality of life. The desert plants escaping from the heart represent the potential for growth in community and the resilience of desert life.
