The Kino Memorial

My works fall into two categories. One is the western frontier: Indians, settlers, cowboys, mountain men, Mormons. The other is the labor movement: workmen and men of action. This work honors both.

In this memorial piece, Artist Mahonri Mackintosh Young depicts Jesuit padre, Eusebio Francisco Kino, founder of Mission San Xavier located just south of Tucson. Young created the plaque using a relief method on bronze.
